Mid-Day Sun
9" x 12"   oil on canvas
The Daily Paintworks  $75

This piece was painted for the The Virtual Paintout. We artists tour a pre-designated area, and using Google Street View, find something we'd like to paint or draw. The island of Sri Lanka was the chosen destination for this month.  I found my spot not far from the port, in the city of Colombo - this street is called Sri Gunananda Mawatha.  Though it is actually a bustling little area, I made things slow down a bit to when the day’s heat would impose a kind of quiet, so that sun and shadow would be the key players here.

This piece is painted on all sides of the canvas. It can be framed, but you could hang it up, just as it is.

Sunset at the Beach
9x12”  oil on canvas
nfs

A marriage proposal, on the beach at sunset, with the people you love to witness, what could be more lovely or romantic? It was lovely and romantic, a truly beautiful moment in the lives of two very special people, and all of us there, but it was not the kind of sunset that comes to mind. Instead of the brilliantly colored sky one might imagine, it was cold and grey, with a storm moving in. But it didn’t really matter about the weather, the beach at sunset is a beautiful place to be. Congratulations to the very happy and wonderful couple!

This piece is painted on all sides of the canvas. It can be framed, but can also be hung up just as it is

Daffodils at Night
9” x 12”  acrylic on canvas

I wanted to paint a simple piece with big bold colors. Starting from real life with real flowers, this piece took off into the land of imagination - daffodils in front of a window in some city, late at night.

This piece is painted on gallery wrapped canvas (1.5” deep), the picture continues on all sides. It hangs flush against the wall and does not need framing, but you can if you like.
