This month, The Virtual Paintout is traveling through Croatia. In Hrvatska Dubica, near the Bosnia and Herzegovina border, I found that winter frosts were still dominating the landscape, even though the trees were blooming with spring blossoms. The early morning fog seems very atmospheric and full of mystery.

Zinnia Gathering

The zinnias are still going strong in my garden. Their many colors and types encouraged me to gather them up and paint them, using lots of thick paint in contrasting colors. It was really a lot of fun!

This picture is painted on all sides, so you could frame it in a ready-made frame, get really creative with the framing, or just hang it as is.

A Day on the Lake

It was a beautiful day at Shoreline Park. Everybody on the lake was having a wonderful time - especially me! 

Although I started this painting at the lake, I finished it in the studio, and added a lot of detail. I think it makes for a more interesting picture, lots to look at.
