Water-Buffalo Welcome
9" x 12"   oil on canvas

The Virtual Paintout is traveling through the Philippines this month. Using Google Street View, we try and find a subject or scene to paint or draw that captures our enthusiasm. I traveled through Malasiqui, in the Ilocos Region, and found this friendly water buffalo standing by the side of this small farm. I found him to be most friendly and welcoming!

Our Neighbors’ House
9” x 12”  oil on canvas
gift

My neighbor saw me outside doing a bit of plein air,  and said how much he would love a painting of his house. I was intrigued by the simple elegance of his porch and how the light created those slanting angles on the slate and across the plants and shrubs, so the challenge was on. Hopefully, they will be pleased with this painting. (They are very nice neighbors.)

Old Oak at the Annex
Cuesta Park Annex
14" x 18"  oil on canvas
nfs

This is an older piece, which I have placed up for auction. When I painted it, the future of this park (in Mountain View, seemed to be in question, with many of the trees - like this one- slated for removal. Through much effort on the part of the community, plans were changed and the annex (a "wild" part of a big city park) has been left as it is. It is a wonderful little piece of the California landscape left just as it is.
