Iris Abstract
16" x 12"    Acrylic on Canvas
The Daily Paintworks
$195.

The irises and daffodils were in bloom when this piece was started. I had no idea how it would turn out (that's the beauty of the process - the discovery along the way.) I wanted something more than one more floral painting. Hundreds of changes, big and small, and here we are.

This piece is painted on gallery-wrapped canvas (16 x 12 x 1.5") and painted around every side. No need to frame it unless you want! It comes with a wire on back and ready to hang up.

a
Daffodil Season
11 x 14"   Oil on Canvas
 $150

The nice thing about February is that the spring flowers begin to bloom. First the paper whites and the daffodils, then hyacinths and tulips. On the west coast, when winter usually means grey days, the bright and sunny yellow of the daffodils are like little heralds, proclaiming the coming of spring.

Painted on all sides of the canvas, this picture can be framed or hung up just as it is - I am happy to put a wire on the back.

Spring Song
12 x 9 x 1.5    Acrylic on Canvas

This painting is a tribute to spring, an acknowledgment of spring's rebirth, and possibly a bit of an April Fools
' Day joke. It was actually painted a year ago, in a very minimalist style. It seemed right at the time, part of the whole "art exploration" thing, after a while I became less and less pleased by it. So I decided to try and make it better without sacrificing the simplicity and elegance I had achieved. Maybe it's better, maybe not, and that is where the April Fools' joke comes in - directed at me!

Here's the original:

This painting is painted on all sides of a gallery-wrapped canvas, and needs no further framing. It sits flush against the wall and is ready to hang.

Spring Song
12  x 9 x 1.5 "  acrylic on Gallery-wrap canvas
nfs

Well, it’s spring - finally! The Spring flowers came into bloom but are now are leaving us. Can one show how quickly they come and go using paint and brush? It's part of the whole  “flower story” so it seems right to include that, while showing the idea of how beautiful they are, even in memory. The “minimalistic” approach felt right for this painting, putting in just the basics - flowers, stems and vase. I hope you like it!

This piece is painted on gallery wrapped canvas, the black background continuing on all sides of the canvas. It hangs flush against the wall and does not need framing, but you could if you like.

Daffodils at Night
9” x 12”  acrylic on canvas

I wanted to paint a simple piece with big bold colors. Starting from real life with real flowers, this piece took off into the land of imagination - daffodils in front of a window in some city, late at night.

This piece is painted on gallery wrapped canvas (1.5” deep), the picture continues on all sides. It hangs flush against the wall and does not need framing, but you can if you like.

Not-So-Still Life
18” x 24” 1.5”
  Daily Paintworks  $400

This piece is more than a still life set up, it's an exploration of shapes, color and textures. It is also bigger than the usual ones, which gave me room to try different things - slathering on with mounds of paint, wielding knives, brushes and scrapers. To say that it was an exercise in fun, or a journey of discovery seems redundant, but it was fun, and for every decision I made, every color I put down, I had to sacrifice other ideas and color choices. I think this is often what painting can be about, and why I love it so much!

(some close-ups)

This piece is painted on gallery-wrapped canvas, and because it is quite deep, the painting goes around on all sides. No need to frame it (but of course you could), it hangs flush against the wall.

Finally, it's here! Even though spring doesn't officially begin for another week, the bulbs are all blooming. I don't know which makes me happier - how pretty they are, their wonderful scent, or the promise of summer!

This little piece is painted on all sides. It comes out from he wall 1.5 inches and needs no framing; it is ready to hang.

Still Life with Daffodils
14" x 18"  oil on canvas
$400.

The daffodils are are poking their green shoots up through the cold ground, and will soon be starting to bloom. Then spring cannot be far behind. Such exquisite flowers make me want to bring them in and paint them! The Dutch Masters were a strong influence for this piece.
