Flowers in a Cup

A sincere thank you to the lovely person who sent me this beautiful cup all the way from the Met (NYC). The Met is home to the famous Vincent van Gogh painting "Irises" (1880). She must have known I would want to paint that cup with some flowers in it, and so I have.

This piece is painted on all sides of a gallery-wrapped canvas (10 x10 x 1.5) and can be hung up just as it is, with no further framing - unless you'd like. It has a wire on back and is ready to go up on the wall.

I have made every effort to match the digital color of the image you see to the paintings, but not all monitors, lighting effects or digital cameras are totally accurate and some variation will occur.

Artist's Statement

My main goal as a painter is to express the beauty I see around me. I feel that this is my mission in life, and I take it seriously.

I love the process of painting, itself, and me, color is the best part. I see color theory as an evolving concept, one that never ceases to amaze and delight, so to learn more, to do better... this is where I am a seeker!

I hope you enjoy these paintings, I think I can honestly say I work long and hard over them. Not because I'm a perfectionist - I'm certainly not - but because I understand that all these pieces will last a very long time. Artists, I think must also be craftsmen. We must strive to create a thing of integrity and (for me) beauty for others to share in and enjoy.
