Along the Charleston Slough,
Palo Alto Baylands Park
Oil on canvas      16" x 20"
 $295

This piece was painted on location at the edge of the Baylands Preserve. I especially like the way the view of field through the eucalyptus trees seems to go on forever.

This piece is framed in wood, with a hand painted  "oatmeal" colored liner. The outside dimensions are 19.5 x 23.5. It looks like this:

View of the Tower of David, Jerusalem
9.5" x 13"    oil on board
sold

The Virtual Paintout is in Jerusalem this month. I stopped on Dror Eliel, a quiet street, to paint across the way to the Old City walls, and the Tower of David. I was attracted to the picturesque and timeless feeling of this scene, without realizing that this is an important piece of history. The tower and the citadel were built over 2100 years ago, and have been fought over, destroyed and rebuilt many times.

I hope you will visit my Gallery at The Daily Paintworks, to see more of my work.

Late Spring at the Annex
16" x 20" oil on canvas
framed, 19.5" x 23.5"
 $295.

In late spring, the almond trees have finished blooming, time has moved on. The grasses are growing long and drying out but everything still has that feeling of being fresh and green.

I love painting here at this small part of Cuesta Park - called the Annex - because it still has a feeling of wildness and space. Once an old orchard, now a bit of open space, it is a reminder of how things "naturally" are.

This piece has been exhibited, so it is framed - in wood, with a painted boarder, ready to hang. Here's how it looks:

The Quiet of the Night
9.5" x 13"  oil on board
sold

This piece is very similar to another, "Waiting Up". It is a commission, but not a copy (I do not do copies, as such). I agreed to paint it again, because the theme is one I know from experience. It is about how quiet and still the night is while you wait for someone important to come home, long after the rest of the world has gone to sleep.

I have many more paintings on my Gallery page at The Daily Paintworks, I hope you will visit there.

A Very Nice Neighborhood
Gdansk, Poland
9.5" x 13" oil on board

The Virtual Paintout - a challenge where we paint from the Google street view at a specific location - was in Gdansk, Poland this month. I chose to paint this attractive little neighborhood which has both history and charm. It seems like a nice place to live, with its beautiful old buildings and lovely park areas.

The sunflowers are blooming, the tomatoes are ripe, the zinnias are bursting out all over - and all at once! It actually happens!

Well no, my garden does not look like this yet, but I am waiting for the day that it does. It will, I'm sure!

The Half-Blue House
(St. Petersburg, Russia)
13" x 9.5" oil on board
$75.

The Virtual Paintout went to St. Petersburg Russia this month, and though there were many wonderful sites to see and places I really would have liked to paint, I came back again and again to this quiet neighborhood. Why? I guess because it seems like a really nice street to live on. Lovely old houses, big yards, lots of gardens and trees. My kind of place. If you'd like to see it yourself, click here!

You can buy this painting through me ($40, click the Paypal logo on your left, or through the Daily Paintwork website. I hope you will visit my Gallery there to see more of my work. Thanks!

Almond Trees in Bloom

Almond Trees in Bloom
Cuesta Park Annex
11" x 14"  oil on canvas
sold

The almond blossoms have once again put on a great show at Cuesta Park Annex. Even though it's been said before, we worry that this will be the last year we have such a lovely display. The city would like to "change" this undeveloped piece of land and make it "better". Put in a basin, in case there's ever a flood, build paths and tear down trees, etc. Progress.

Those of us who spend time there understand this is a beautiful place that should be valued, protected, and left as is.

This piece is available from the Daily Paintworks, or may be purchased directly from me. I hope you will visit my Gallery at The Daily Paintworks. Thank you for looking.
