Roadside Trees
12 x 9 ”  oil on canvas
starting bid:  $75

Norway was the destination for The Virtual Paintout this month. Using the Google Street View, artists are invited to paint or draw the local landscape of a chosen area. There are as many different approaches to the task as there are artists. It’s always fun to see what others have come up with, and there is some really nice artwork this month as always.

I found this wooded area on one of the many islands that make up the Norwegian coast, and thought to depict it in a rustic way, leaning a bit towards the abstract. You can see where I painted - using brush and palette knife - by clicking here

This piece is painted on all sides of the canvas, you can frame it, but you can also hang it up just as it is.

Sunflower Tower
10” x 18”   oil on board

This tower of a sunflower was a pleasant surprise. Rescued from a path (I dug it up and brought it home) and planted in our garden, it began to grow, and grow! It soon got so big, with so many flowers, it began to fall over. Nothing else to do but race out and paint such a beautiful and prolific plant!

Painted on masonite board with a strong rough surface to catch the many colors of the paint, it is rich in detail. It was really a lot of fun to paint!
